Kindness
I just had a cordial dinner with some of my seniors tonight. One of them was my mentor and also one of the most erudite and esteemed people I have ever encountered. We discussed some problems with current education and health system related to our specialty. We, human inevitably make mistakes and misjudgments, we constantly learn and grow from trials and errors. However, no grave mistake occurs in accounted of a single individual, instead, like domino effect, terrible results are often consequences of subsequent mistakes. Therefore, as in our effort to minimize our wrongdoings and improve the efficiency in healthcare service, we build systems and organizations to cross-check and fill the holes. Our position in that chain, as leaders, is to inspire and support, and not to criticize the juniors. Good deeds should be generously pay forward.
We are prone to goodness and kindness. We are all working towards becoming our best possible self and that positive action is crucial in increasing well-being. Unfortunately, the many distractions and selfish nature of our modern society can cause some to drift away from our doing good. Wealth, power and selfishness are grown alongside as we are getting older and experienced. We have learned tricks and baits and machinations to get ourselves as most advantages as possible. We have grown smaller as we are older. But it is not the way it should be. We should be much bigger than the society we are living within. We must not let ourselves deteriorated and gradually decayed in jealousy, envy and deceit. Kindness is a virtue that sound elementary, yet hard to take seriously.
Kindness is all the different ways – both big and small – we express care, concern, and consideration for ourselves and those with whom we share the world. In a world filled with struggles and pain, kindness is like a deep cleansing breath that rejuvenate us with its purity, refreshes us with its goodness, and gives us the strength to perverse despite our troubles. Kindness is a reminder of why we are here and how we can each use our lives to help others
Being happy and being kind are two things we often strive to be in life. Sometimes we don’t realize that the two are very closely linked. Doing good deeds can bring untold amount of happiness; both for the recipient and the benefactor. Ultimately, kindness is not just about alleviating sufferings, it is about building connections, fostering resilience and creating a supportive community. Being kind is hard, especially in hard times, but by embracing kindness, we can navigate life’s challenges together, emerging stronger and united.
